Rowing II on the Reformer Tower part of the 300 level classes
Classes
In these sessions you will be working with up to 4 other students. Your instructor will guide you through a workout utilizing several pieces of equipment. You will be working on 89" Gratz Universal Reformers with Tower (or half Cadillac) conversions. Depending on your and the other 4 practitioners' needs that day, a session will be tailored for you, with the instructor selecting from the original Classical repertoire of Reformer and Cadillac exercises.
100 Level Classes will remain in the Foundational or Beginner System and move at a slower pace; keep in mind that these are intended to be an introduction to the system and there will more than likely be new clients in every class. These are the only apparatus classes open to ClassPass. We alway recommend taking a few Privates if you’re new to Classical Pilates (Intro 3 Pack) as the real secret sauce to our specific brand of Pilates is biomechanics and alignment- translation. Less clients = more attention to your specific anatomy and movement patterns. Our goal in 100 Level Classes is to provide a challenging yet safe environment for you and your fellow classmates to get an intro to the Classical system while gaining an understanding of how to move with integrity.
*200 Level Classes and above require clearance; please email us to request clearance or for guidance on which level might be the best for you!
200 Level Classes get a bump in the challenge of the exercises as well as pace, you will be introduced to overhead exercises, where you are inverting, or taking your legs over your face, (think shoulder-stand in yoga) so it’s important to build your abdominal strength (hello series of 5) in the 100 level classes before moving into the 200 level classes to protect your back.
300 Level Classes add more complexity in exercises by integrating multiple planes of movement and taking away apparatus support. Translation: you will shake like a chihuahua in rainstorm, but you’ll love it and come back for more 2 days later. (That’s how we all ended up here.)
400 Level Classes these are the actually the most fun classes… we know, eye-roll, but the vibe and camaraderie in theses classes is unparalleled. It’s super motivating to see your friend working hard and laughing at how hard some of the stuff you are doing is. Reading this, you might feel like you will never end up here, but you just might surprise yourself.

In Joe’s 8th Avenue Studio in the Upper West Side in NYC, he had a concept not unlike our modern day gym (think Lifetime or 24Hour Fitness). After his clients learned the exercises in a one-on-one setting, they would be instructed to pay a small fee and workout on their own while he walked around and gave some alignment cues or spotted them for some of the more complex exercises. We love that, AND we love a budget friendly workout. Our main goal is to make this workout accessible at varying prices, while also allowing you to experience the flow you can find when you’re moving to the pace of your own breath (Joes instructions from his book “Return to Life”). The Classical exercise orders and instruction are given to you via our Pilates Journals and and three Private Sessions with your instructor of choice. After completing your three privates, you will have access to our Open Studio hours, giving you access to this brilliant body of work and the classical equipment for as low as $17 a workout.

Privates Training
If you’re new to Classical Pilates, returning from a recent injury, or just want a little more one-on-one training, with attention to detail, we offer a wide variety of Private Sessions. Our Classic Private Session is you and your choice of instructor for 55 minutes working through the entire system in our fully equipped studio of Gratz and Pilates Designs by Basil apparatus. You will work through the same system of exercises we do in our classes, but each session will be tailored to your body, your goals and how you are feeling that day. It’s a perfectly bespoke workout to fit. All of our instructors have been through 650+ hours of training and are adept at programing for many different injuries and pathologies as well as healthy life stages (e.g. prenatal, postpartum, seniors). We also offer Duet Sessions for you and a partner. This is perfect for you and a friend or family member who would like to come in together. Additionally, we have Privates with our Teachers-in-Training, while they are working their way through their 650 hour program for $0-$50 depending on their level of experience and how far along they are in the program.
